COLTS

WHEATLEY HILLS 12 – SCUNTHORPE 17

After a quick turnaround the colts were looking to right the wrongs from yesterdays game as they travelled to Wheatley Hills in the quarter finals of the Yorkshire Cup.

The match was underway and Scunthorpe came out firing with a penalty in the early minutes saw Scunny on the opponents 5 metre line, a rolling maul saw them draw closer and Harry Elms breaks through and scores the first try of the match, conversion was successful and the score is 7-0 to the visitors.

Wheatley Hills would answer back through some strong carries for their forwards saw them inches away and after some strong tackles made by Scunthorpe Wheatley Hills managed to get over and score, conversion unsuccessful and the score is 7-5.

After a bit of an arm wrestle in the middle of the pitch the next try came from the travelling side after a box kick from Jack Murray saw him collect the ball from his own kick and offloaded it to Austyn Stow who runs half of the pitch to score in the corner to give the travelling side a bit of breathing space for now just as the first half was about to end, conversion was unsuccessful and the scoreline for the first half is 12-5 to Scunthorpe.

The second half was underway and neither team was giving in to each other with both teams putting strong carries and tackles.

However, it would be the travelling side that scores the next try after multiple penalties were conceded by Scunthorpe in the red zone saw Alfie Murray had been given a yellow card, the home side pile on the pressure and eventually score and bring the score back level.

After that try, everything seemed be going in the favour of the homeside and for a long time it would look like the home side would take the victory.

But, the ball is dropped and picked up by Scunthorpe and is shipped to Austyn who breaks through the defence and puts a kick through the ball is bouncing up towards the tryline and the covering defender fumbles and the ball lands into the hands of Reece Clark who rolls over the try line and wins the game in the last minute for Scunthorpe, conversion missed and the full time whistle is blown and the scoreline ends 17-12 to Scunthorpe.

The Colts now progress into the semi final of the Yorkshire Cup
